For the third year in a row, Hodnett Cooper is the presenting partner for Glynn County’s Relay for Life fundraiser. 2010 Marks the 16th Annual Relay for Life event in Glynn County.
Annually, Glynn County contributes more than $400,000 towards the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day, cancer will be eliminated.
Please join us and our community for a lap around the track at 7:00 pm, Friday April 23 at the Glynn County Fairgrounds in Brunswick, Georgia. We welcome the entire community!
We would like to officially invite you to attend the 3rd Annual Rockstar Karaoke: A Benefit for the American Cancer Society, this Friday, April 9th 6:00-9:00pm at Ziggy Mahoney’s. Don’t let the title fool you…This isn’t karaoke to pre-recorded tracks. It is real LIVE performances with a full band. A group of locals have volunteered to pick a song, rehearse it, and sing it in front of a live crowd in order to raise money for a GREAT CAUSE! This year the theme is “Georgia On My Mind”. Performers were free to pick any genre, any time period, any artist, and any song…..as long as the artist or writer was from Georgia or the song was about Georgia. You’re gonna love this year’s show! Make sure you get there early so that you get a good seat. Last year’s event was packed!
After each performance a bucket will be sent out into the audience to collect “votes” (dollars). The Rockstar(s) that collect the most money will be crowned the 2010 Rockstar Karaoke Champion. Please bring a fist full of dollars and come support your favorite local rockstar! This is a great charity event and is sure to be a lot of fun.

The Annual Tour of Homes and Gardens on St. Simons Island and Sea Island seems to crown the Spring season on these two magnificent coastal barrier islands. This event is sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women of the historic Christ Church, Frederica, has been described as one of the premier tours in the entire Southeast. It will take place on Saturday, March 20, 2010.
Visitors will be treated to homes and gardens on both Islands featuring styles ranging from low-country, old south plantations to old world European estates. In addition to the elegant homes so generously opened for this special event, tour stops will include Musgrove Plantation; Wesley Memorial Gardens and Christ Church. Each stop on the tour will offer something unique, either through its’ architecture, location, decoration or landscaping. Homes are an extremely important aspect to the grandeur of the surrounding area and homeowners go to great lengths to feature and highlight the natural setting of oaks, marsh and beach.
Perhaps one of the most popular stops is the historic Christ Church itself. Founded in 1736 by General James Oglethorpe and Charles Wesley, it was rebuilt in 1884 after the Civil War by The Reverend A.G.P. Dodge, Jr. in memory of his first wife. Refreshments are always served in the Parish House by the members of the congregation and make a relaxing break in the day. Many ladies take the opportunity to purchase the church cookbook, which in addition to featuring many favorite island recipes, showcases stunning photographs of the church’s stained glass windows and a lovely hard cover of an original watercolor by local artist Betty Lowe.
The tour has historically been very successful and the money raised has been turned back into the community in support of charitable, educational and Christian organizations. The women of Christ Church work tirelessly to present an elegant, yet fun-filled event.

We had a great turnout at the Bustier Cabaret on Saturday. Thank you all for your generous support! Together, we raised more than $2000 for the American Cancer Society. A special thanks to Ziggy’s for donating the space for the cabaret and an additional $1 for every patron that visited after 10:00 pm. We couldn’t have done it without you, Holly Brockington, and the many brave models. We hope to make this a continued annual tradition and look forward to an even bigger turnout next time.

Join the ladies of Hodnett Cooper at Ziggy’s on March 13, 2010 at 8:00 pm for an unforgettable evening… the Bustier Cabaret, a Fashion Show benefiting Cancer Awareness and Relay for Life.
Tickets are $8 in advance, available at any Hodnett Cooper office location, or $10 at the door. A fun time is guaranteed!
